Food Logistics Leaders Receive Operational Advice to Improve Efficiency
With retail competition and concentration colliding with commodity and currency instability, coupled with increasing environmental pressures, the food industry in 2010 is as challenged as it has ever been. This was the topic of the keynote address given by Professor Alan Braithwaite, chairman of LCP consulting when he opened an informative set of presentations at the recent FSDF Spring Conference.

FSDF and SfL work together to Develop Skills of Food Logistics Sector
The Food Storage and Distribution Federation (FSDF), the sole trade body which represents and supports the interests of the entire food logistics industry, and Skills for Logistics (SfL), the Sector Skills Council for the freight logistics industries, have reached a formal agreement to work together on the development of a series of nationally recognised qualifications for the food logistics industry.

FSDF invited to join new DfT - Low Carbon Supply Chain Stakeholder Group
The food and drink industry are significant users of energy and creators of emissions, and the temperature controlled food logistics sector more so. With electricity alone representing over 30 % of total operating costs, the members of the Food Storage and Distribution Federation (FSDF) and in it’s previous guise as the Cold Storage and Distribution Federation, have recognised the need for good energy management practice over many years, and more recently the need to control carbon and ozone depleting substances (ODS) emissions.
