Transport for London Olympic Road Freight Management Team

Freight Journey Planner – update.  TfL is now able to confirm that the Freight Journey Planner (FJP) is now available to use.

The FJP can plan a compliant route with single or multiple delivery locations. By entering a postcode, address, Point of Interest (POI) or, if travelling from outside London, M25 junction, the Planner calculates routes taking account of all known physical restrictions and, where appropriate, planned Games time road restrictions that we are currently aware of.

Based on the date and time of day and the vehicle‟s dimensions, it will calculate the most appropriate route, it will also display the closest legal stopping points to each selected delivery location.

Getting the most from the Freight Journey Planner
Restrictions can vary on a day-to-day basis, so it is very important to check you have entered the correct time / date of travel as either a departure, or arrival, time. Note that the date defaults to the current day, so please ensure to enter the correct date if planning future journeys. Please also remember to click „verify‟ once you have entered your origin and delivery locations.

Further information on how to use the FJP is available at: http://freightplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/help.php this site includes a link to the comprehensive FAQs page.

Feedback
Your feedback is vital; if you encounter any problems with using the tool or the routes it suggests, please send your comments to the email address supplied on the FJP website.

Functionality
FORS members will also be able to save any generated routes, as well as details of their vehicles, drivers and locations.

Any enhancements and upgrades to the Freight Journey Planner will be notified in future editions of the Bulletin. Please visit www.tfl.gov.uk/2012freight for further information and to try it out.

Please note, the journey planner is not a scheduling tool and it cannot optimise drop-off / collection sequences for your vehicles. Such functionality needs to be provided by your existing logistics software packages and the FJP can then be used to verify or alter the planned routes with the data you enter to the system. For further enquiries regarding links your scheduling software to Games-time datasets please contact your software provider or visit https://api-portal.tfl.gov.uk/

The FJP is for advisory purposes, use of the tool is subject to the Terms and Conditions listed on the website.

Example outputs: zoomable route map and road-by-road route details.
