FSDF CEO Chris Sturman Presented with UKWA Chairman Award
The prestigious UKWA Awards took place at London’s Dorchester Hotel on July 4th, recognising companies and individuals from across the logistics sector and rewarding them for their outstanding performance and professionalism. Over 450 logistics professionals attended the lunch event which was hosted by the journalist and broadcaster, Andrew Marr.
The UKWA Chairman Award is presented to an individual or company who has made a real and lasting contribution to the logistics industry. UKWA Chairman, Graeme Undy, chose Chris Sturman as the 2018 recipient.
Chris Sturman has been Chief Executive of the Food Storage and Distribution Federation (FSDF) since early 2009, having previously served on its Executive Council for over ten years. Chris is retiring from his role in summer 2018, following a 50-year career in freight transport, logistics and supply chain management, of which 35 years have been in the food sector.
Tim Moran, Chairman of FSDF commented: “Chris Sturman joined the FSDF in 2009 and during his time at the helm, Chris has transitioned FSDF from the back room to the forefront of the industry. His wealth of industry knowledge has morphed into the Federation, further enhancing FSDF’s reputation as the leader in temperature-controlled food logistics.”
Graeme Undy from UKWA commented: “Chris is a consummate professional and, equally importantly, a genuinely good bloke and is very deserving of the UKWA Chairman’s award. He is a fine example of all that is good about the logistics sector and the award is recognition of UKWA’s appreciation of everything Chris has done for our industry.”
