Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is coming to central London
Every child in London is breathing toxic air, mainly caused by road vehicles. To help tackle this, Transport for London is changing to the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in central London in the same area as the Congestion Charge zone.
It will operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year, from 8 April 2019 replacing the T-Charge.
Vehicles will need to meet the new stricter emission standards or pay the daily ULEZ charge. This is in addition to the weekday Congestion Charge.
From 25 October 2021 the area will be expanded to inner London bounded by the North and South Circular roads.
If your vehicle doesn’t meet the ULEZ standards and you drive within the ULEZ, you will be automatically charged for the ULEZ and the Congestion Charge.
This is part of the commitment by the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, and TfL to help Londoners breathe cleaner air.
