Five Minutes With FSDF Member Fortdress

06/03/2019

Since Fortdress and SMI joined FSDF as Associate Members, the two organisations have been reaping the benefits of our association and industry insight. We spoke with Carlos Prisgrove, Fortdress’ UK Sales Director, to find out more about the partnership and what they are gaining from their membership with us…

What made SMI and Fortdress decide to partner together?

Fortdress is Europe’s leading supplier of cold store clothing, operating across Europe, Ireland, USA, and New Zealand, supplying many of the world’s largest blue-chip brands in the Food Transportation industry.

The firm chose SMI to be their UK distributor for their products, because of our expertise in the PPE and Workwear sector, and our national reach. We liked the synergies between the two organisations – like SMI, Fortdress is an innovative and successful family business, specialising in refrigeration clothing for customers working in the food logistics sector.

Before we joined forces, SMI couldn’t offer our clients the range of high-performance cotton-rich woollen material, low thickness, all-round flexibility and excellent insulation products for our cold storage customers. Now we can offer the Fortdress brand, it’s really helped us to bring a greater degree of protection, comfort and durability to our operatives working in inclement temperatures.

What made you decide to join FSDF?
As the sole UK trade body that focuses on representing and supporting the interests of the entire food and drink logistics industry, FSDF provides a critical service to the sector. Through the Association with you, we get to access some of the leading developments in the sector – enabling both of our organisations to recognise some of the challenges which operatives face in their day to day roles.

As both SMI and Fortdress have a keen investment in innovation, our Associate membership with FSDF enables us to tailor our research, development and design to directly address real issues which operatives deal with in the food and logistics sector, and create new products to enhance safety and protection for our clients.

What products are you currently working on for our industry?
Fortdress have recently launched their Prestige series, comprising a suite of products enhanced to a new level, inspired by the booming outdoor industry. Wearing properties are enhanced to the max through BesondereDetaillösungen and use of Hi-Tec materials. The Prestige items are even lighter, warmer, more robust and offer improved freedom of movement and comfort in industrial refrigeration clothing than ever before. Underlined by a modern design, the Prestige product range is industry-leading in terms of durability, functionality, safety and design.

We are committed to continuing to innovate, using our partnership to focus on more challenges of working in cold storage environments. We’re always looking for input from our customers to make sure we tackle some of the most common issues around safety and comfort, and using that knowledge to target our design and product development for the sector.

How can our Associate members find out more about your partnership?
Get in touch with either myself or one of the SMI team at any time, to learn about the products which we have specifically for members of FSDF and others working in the cold storage sector. We’ll be delighted to demonstrate some of our latest developments, and help operatives to benefit from enhanced protection and comfort through the Fortdress range!
