Paneltex lights up the CV Show with all-electric display
In a departure from its traditional diesel vehicle display at the CV Show, all four vehicles on the FSDF member Paneltex stand will be electric vehicles, confirming the company’s commitment to alternative powered vehicles. Not only are the four trucks electric powered, but two of the trucks also feature Paneltex refrigerated bodies specified with all-electric refrigeration systems.
Announcing details of their all-electric stand, Paneltex’s managing director Chris Berridge said, “Towards the end of 2018 we announced that Paneltex would be adding electric vehicles to its product portfolio with a commitment to these becoming production vehicles. At the show, we will be highlighting four different models from our production range of electric vehicles, with a diverse selection of bodywork that confirms the potential applications for this type of exciting new product.”
There are three 7.5 tonne Paneltex electric vehicles based on the Isuzu N75 rigid chassis on the stand. One of these vehicles will have a Paneltex refrigerated body with a GAH electric refrigeration system that is powered by the traction batteries. This vehicle also features triple rear doors with a nearside access door as well.
The second Paneltex 7.5 tonne electric truck is targeted at the municipal industry and features a cage tipper body with the scissor tipper again being powered by the vehicle’s batteries.
The third vehicle based on the Isuzu 7.5t chassis features an insulated dry freight body with curved roof and a Dhollandia 1tonne tail lift, making it an ideal vehicle for the parcel carrying industry.
All three Paneltex 7.5t vehicles have a payload benefit of more than 200 kg over the equivalent traditional diesel engine trucks and with an 80-kWh battery pack, the vehicles have a potential journey distance of 80 miles when fully loaded. The vehicles also feature fully electric cab heaters.
The fourth and final vehicle is a unique 4.25tonne BD Auto electric conversion, designed for the home delivery market, with a dual compartment refrigerated Paneltex body that features a chilled section at the front and ambient in the rear compartment.
Once again, this vehicle features a GAH electric fridge and the vehicle has nearside and offside access to the body as well as barn doors at the rear. One of the key benefits of this Paneltex 4.25tonne electric vehicle is that it has a payload of 1100 kg, which enables customers to benefit from added payload in comparison to a 3.5tonne vehicle, yet still being able to employ drivers on normal car licences.
Completing the stand will be an area dedicated to the after-sales side of the Paneltex business, covering warranty, nationwide service support and replacement parts.
